WHAT SUSTAINABILITY INTERIOR DESIGN MEANS FOR ACCOUTER

As part of Accouter Group of Companies, since 2012 we've been on a mission to be the best furnishing and interior provider on the planet. Now we are on a mission to make the planet a better place too.

As a future-focused collective, we realise how much difference we could be making on eco and social levels. So instead of sustaining and maintaining our performance, we are prioritising plans to regenerate and commence a never-ending journey towards 'sustainability' and do our bit to make the planet a better place for every being.

Accouter Design Director, Esra Kumbasar spoke to Monique Stamp, UK Director at Riviere Rugs about sustainability and design. In the interview, the pair covered the importance of sustainability for leading artisans such as Riviere, which for the designers, is becoming an increasingly important factor within their designs. SUSTAINABLE INTERIOR DESIGN FOR LONGEVITY AND FLEXIBILITY

Today, people are far more conscious of the way in which the world’s natural resources are diminishing. Moving into 2022, they will become more entrenched in a period of nurturing their moral senses, which the designers believe will transpire through a greater focus on sustainability in terms of the materials they use and the brands they shop from.

Up until now, individuals assumed they had to choose between sleek minimalist and modern interiors, or a vintage look. However, this year the team predict people will move past this notion, curating a hybrid concept that combines the merits of both and enables individuals to be more environmentally conscious when sourcing items. From Victorian wooden furniture or panelling, mouldings and occasional chairs to statement accents and vases and pottery, we will see an increased market demand for these items as people mix the old and new in an ethical and sustainable fashion.
