Read on to immerse yourself and become inspired by the current Autumn Winter Interior trends of 2022.
THE 70s REVIVAL
Laid-back styling, natural materials, earthy tones, relaxed and fun. Expressing free-spiritedness and optimism of the 70s era.
A key trend which has surfaced this year is the 70s revival. With a modern twist, the resurrection of this certain era’s interior design style allows us to be creative with colours, patterns and shapes this season. Deeper, earthy and warm tones are often associated with the 70s as well as the colder months, making them a harmonious match. Colours such as olive greens, burnt oranges and warm chocolatey browns are typically selected as a nod to the 70s, and can be used in a range of interior styles or furniture pieces. From large items such as sofas or tables, to details and accessories including vases and mirrors, the options are endless to embrace this revival trend in a sophisticated style within your home.
NATURAL MATERIALS
Organic woods, stone, marble, and raw edged metals for the creation of biophilic designed homes.
Biophilic interiors have been featured by Accouter previously, on an edition of The Publication in which we share ‘Luxury Interior Trends To Incorporate Into Your Next Renovation’ This is becoming an a more significant trend, by presenting natural raw materials to draw inspiration and embody the beauty and sustainability of nature. Autumn connotes rich, deep tones of oranges, reds, greens and browns. Incorporating these within your living space, whether it’s inside or outside, can evoke a positive, light atmosphere, even when the days feel shorter and darker. Materials such as marble, wood or stone are seen within many luxury brands, highlighting the admiration of the Biophilic trend.
LESS IS MORE- BARE ESSENTIALS
Paring back the accessories with simple accent pieces that are designed to be appreciated in isolation.
Minimalism often comes in waves within the interior design industry, and in 2022 it has returned as one of the key trends to pay attention to. Using large, statement pieces which almost have their own spotlight can make the home appear sophisticated and well thought out, as opposed to creating clusters of multiple items that can sometimes be overbearing to the eye or for the space. What makes the trend different this time around, is the use of natural textures and a warmer shift in colour palette, instead of stark whites and smooth materials. Wooden side tables, stone fireplaces or metal detailing can all be used to embrace the new-found minimalism, less is more trend.
OVERSIZED EXTRAVAGENT LIGHTING
Large sculptural lighting that act as works of art, becoming the grand focal point of the space.
Paintings or sculptures are often favoured when wanting to add personality to a home, but this season using large, extravagant lighting is an inspiring new way to add works of art to a space. Using ceiling lighting to create a focal point for in the room, in combination when combined with the minimalist trend across the rest of the space, can be a bold yet stunning statement, presenting the lighting as a piece of art. If used correctly, this can really transform the room, and is an exciting way to hold onto the warm lighting from the sunnier months that have passed.
Another way to incorporate this trend is to display table lamps with vibrant colours or sculptural shapes, allowing the bold design to captivate a space. Even when not in use, lamps which have been thoughtfully designed can appear as works of art, breathing life into areas of your home that you may have otherwise forgotten about.
VINTAGE & ANTIQUES
Combining the old with new. Increasing sustainability in design with pre-loved.
Our fifth and final interior trend for Autumn Winter 2022, is incorporating vintage and antique pieces into the home. Sustainability has been on the rise in the past few years, and it is something we are always working towards within our interior design collective, as outlined in our sustainability manifesto.
Using pre-loved furniture or accessories within your living space is not only beneficial to the planet, but choosing one-of-a-kind antique pieces allows your home to feel exclusive to you. It can often be difficult to make your home appear unique, however this trend in particular allows for the expression of personality and character throughout. For example, these 19th century, George III era Armchairs from Bazaar, Accouter Group of Companies luxury furniture store, have been beautifully restored. Incorporating these into a living space would certainly add a sense of individuality, as well as supporting the vision of a sustainable future even further.
At Accouter, the studio strives for the impossible: to exceed the expectations of the trendsetters, tastemakers and industry leaders who set the benchmark for luxury living. Their vision is to be a must have signature for every luxury interior worldwide.
