DESIGN INSPIRATION FROM AROUND THE GLOBE
Our team of design connoisseurs here at Accouter are continuously searching for inspiration, not only within our London, New York and Dubai locations, but all across the globe. Investing time into seeking inspiration in many corners of the luxury design world is extremely beneficial to our project processes, supplier selections, and of course the knowledge we impart to our clients. This is why having an in depth understanding of current design trends, up-coming artists and general movements within the industry is so important.
This edition of The Publication explores the international designs that our team at Accouter admire.
NILUFAR
Nilufar, the renowned Italian furniture gallery, has been a huge source of inspiration for our designers. Accouter had the pleasure of visiting the PAD show in London earlier this year, in which Nilufar was one of the great participants to discover.
A designer which we particularly favoured and whom showcased through Nilufar at PAD was Xavier Lust. This Belgian designer exhibited their Consolle Continent, which immediately catches the eye through its unique design. The mesmerising cut out style in combination with the satin brass finish to this exquisite table would be a beautiful addition to an entertainment space or hallway within a home. Although from a distance this piece could look quite simplistic, it is one to be admired when viewed closely. The minimalist trend stands strongly in 2022, which we discussed our recent piece in The Publication, putting this at the fore of trends we’re following.
SARAH MYERSCOUGH GALLERY
The Sarah Myerscough Gallery, also seen at the PAD show this year, is another gallery that has displayed beautiful works of art through uniquely crafted furniture. The Dark Matter project which was showcased at PAD creates a conversation about the stereotypes of eco-contemporary design and craft. The incredibly sleek, dark and stripped-back oak pieces were created by Peter Marigold, John Makepeace OBE and Christopher Kurtz, and they each represent incredible craftmanship, with a dramatic appearance with the deep tones and shadows created by the silhouettes.
The overall purpose of this exhibition by the Sarah Myerscough Gallery was to represent the idea that sustainability can collaborate with creativity and elegance in a harmonious way. Sustainability is a huge part of Accouter’s brand values, and is something which we are always working towards, with the aim to introduce upholstered vintage or antique furniture into our projects. MAISON PARISIENNE
Ceramics have been around for centuries, dating as far back as to when human beings began experimenting with earth, fire and water. However, when intrinsic yet modern pieces of art through the medium of ceramic are created, it can appear as a completely new and exciting material.
An astounding example of this is the captivating work of Juliette Clovis, in particular her piece entitled Blooming Gold. This French designer has a style which captivates a combination of ancient, modern and futuristic art, making the pieces quite mesmerising to look at. Featuring pieces like these in large areas of the home, such as entryways or large bathrooms, would add a certain touch of exclusivity and class to the overall feel of the property.
CHARLES ZANA
A particular international designer who stands out to Accouter is Charles Zana, a Tunisian designer with an architecture background. His architectural expertise shines throughout his work, with colour, warmth and originality being consistent aspects to his designs.
Take the Djo Armchair for example, with the contrast of its soft Boucle fabric and its smooth yet clean, sharp lines. Although quite minimalist, the precision and care that has been taken to create this masterpiece can instantly be discovered.
